“Does the pan totally detach from the base for cleaning?”

• No, but it's submersible so it's easy to clean.

• No the plug detaches from the pan and the pan is then completely immersed in water for easy cleaning.

• You can remove the handles but you still can't submerge the pan because of the electrical plug where the controller goes. I would recommend getting a known brand name like Presto. I had one before and literally wore it out using it at least 2 to 3 times a week for 15 years. I still have a Presto griddle that I bought at the same time, just use it less.
