• A smaller container is supplied but rather than "chop" ingredients for salsa, it would blend/shred them into fine pieces. It would work for salsa and soups, I think.

• A little at a time, yes. Same with ice 'cubes'. This little thing is not designed to perform like a VitaMix 750! A little pre-op is necessary for vegies and ice. Make vegie chunks small before grinding. Crush ice cubes before attempting a smoothie. Nice little unit if the operator doesn't exceed its capabilities.
