• The "bagel" button is for toasting on one side. So place the bagel cut side towards each other when placing in the toaster.

• Unknown, it should just allow for the widening of the bread cradles....I doubt it will sense the type of bread. Again...its $12 bucks.

• push the Bagel buton, blue light goes on and bagel comes out perfectly
