• Yes, ginger root is ok. I do cut off the outer part but not necessary. I haven’t tried purple onion.

• I’ve juiced ginger in this juicer and it works well. I’m pretty sure onions would be fine too as it does well with lemons and carrots and spinach and other fruits/vegetables.
