“Does the paddle go up in the bread after it is baked and has to be fished out or I am doing something wrong?”

That paddle will usually stay in the bread loaf (baked in). They give you a utensil to help pull it out. I hold the hot loaf in place with a potholder and pull the paddle out with the bent looking end and place the paddle on the cooling rack by the bread to cool off before I wash it. Taking it out while the bread is still hot keeps it from tearing too big a hole in the bread.

just make sure the flat edge on the inside of paddle matches to the flat edge of center shaft coming up from bottom of pan. So far no problems

Sometimes it does stay in the loaf. Before you start make sure to push it on all the way..
