I would not worry about it as it must made with heat resistant rubber, you do see pro chefs using kitchen tools with plastic/rubber contact ends, don't you?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Rubber grommets keep the bottom perforated plate from touching the bottom (necessary for air flow) or scraping the sides of the basket when taking it out to clean. In my experience, the rubber does not burn at the max temp of 400F.
