• The case gets hot. The top is too hot to leave anything on it. The directions warn against it.

• Hello Sue, Live parts are enclosed so that they cannot be accessible and unit is enclosed in a stainless steel frame with ventilation slots. Hope this helps. The BELLA Team.

• It gets very hot on outside but all the toaster oven i have had were hot open with handle glass door is hot also if you buy this you will fall in love with it quickly.
