Yes you can but you won't be able to unhear the loudest freaking beep when changing the function and when it gets to temperature and when it is done 3 lound beep!

I would not put a small chicken in the toaster. It is small inside the toaster, the outside dimension is misleading because you think you have a larger area inside. I am very happy with my toaster, like the functions on it. I can fit a small black iron skillet of cornbread in it so if that helps you.
