No timer but it has indicator lights at the top letting you know when its ready for cooking. We have found cooking or pre heating the ingredients work the best. If you going for a straight spicy cheese quesadilla 4 to 6 mins is good. Beef or chicken with precooked ingredients aboit 3 to 5.
