“I have an old amplifier, with a L/R audio input for stereo. I want to connect a new CD/DVD player (for CD's only); The new player has a single orange RCA output not the 2-connector L/R. can I still get stereo out by using this or do I need a splitter.”

Hello. You'll need this cable to connect to the orange output but it may not connect to the amplifier without a splitter if you can find one. The splitter will have to take orange digital audio coaxial to yellow and red. I don't know if they make those. This cable is meant to connect to a orange digital audio coaxial input that you would find on a sound bar.
