This is a Coax Digital Audio cable; as long as your DAC has a Digital Coax Audio output and your preamp has a Digital Coax Audio input (they look like a regular, single RCA connector), it will sound great. It is far more common to have an Optical Audio connection nowadays though, in which case this cable will not work.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello. I'm not sure. I've used this cable to connect my older flat screen TV to my sound bar. Both of them have an orange digital audio coaxial port. If your DAC and your preamplifier does, then my answer would be yes
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.DAC stands for Digital-to-Analog Converter, which is a device that converts a digital audio signal from a computer, sound card/interface, cable box or TV into an analog audio signal, in most of all cases providing a line-level output. A preamplifier is a device that takes a very low-level analog audio signal and amplifies it to line level suitable for the input of an analog audio amplifier, hence the name preamplifier; these are commonly used to connect a low-level output from a device such as a microphone or a turntable's phono cartridge to an analog audio amplifier that doesn't have such low-level inputs, in other words, an analog audio amplifier that doesn't have mic or phono inputs. This cable is to connect the coax digital audio output of a device into the digital coax audio input of an integrated amplifier, so I don't think this is what you need, provided you used the right equipment names in your question.
