Yes, that is what it is designed to do. I also have a Fire stick.

I believe the number of available channels and picture quality will depend on where you live. My unit is in a northern suburb of Dallas and it works perfectly located just behind the TV on its entertainment unit even though the directions indicate it should be placed by a window or exterior wall of the dwelling.
