I don’t think the roof material matters but yes it will work better near the window. When I have an issue with the performance I sometimes put the antenna in the window

I did need to "aim" / adjust it a little initially to pull in a network channel that has the weakest signal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.your metal roof will block rf (tv) signals and depending on what kind of walls you have they will block from some to all of your signal. So placement by a window is ideal. what you also need to find out is what direction your tv channels are originating from. Now you say, how do i do this, well there are a bunch of somewhat confusing sites even the fcc has one but there is an app called antenas that makes life easy using your exact location. I like it a lot and it has pictures.
