I just purchased this adapter based on this answer... and the workers at Best Buy said it would work based on this answer... but NO this adapter does not work on the original Wii. Maybe it does on the later models? The display port on the early model Wii needs a larger size display port adapter. See photo comparison. The adapter is the image on the bottom.

There is no such thing as a "display port." The Wii uses a proprietary connector, like most game consoles from that era.

DisplayPort is a specific type of interface developed for computer monitors. If you need this adapter for your game console, then that console would need either a DisplayPort slot (none of them do) or an HDMI port (the Wii doesn't have one).
