Given that this mount is for larger TV's, I'd be careful doing so. You'll need drywall anchors when doing so and be mindful of the weight capacity. Dry wall anchors have a weight rating of about 50lbs, so if your TV is more than 50lbs, you'll definitely want to mount on a stud.
