“I want this to sit in a specific spot on the wall. Is there wiggle room on where to place it horizontally or are you stuck putting it right in the center of where a stud is? or can it be placed off center of a stud?”

Mount a good quality wood board to span two studs and then you can mount this mount on that board. Remember to use use screws like were provided for the mount and then use the screws provided.
