No, it is not exclusively for pet related cleaning of upholstery and carpets. It will also work great for car upholstery fabric.

That was the reason for my purchase, I needed to clean the car upholstery. The bigger carpet cleaner was a hassle to set up, and didn’t seem to work very well using the upholstery attachments.

Yes! I used this to clean the car seats of a 2015 Nissan Rogue and 2013 Honda Fit. It worked really well.

It is an all around great shampoo machine, you can use it for anything cleaning, detailing, and etc. Recommended to do the job right the first time.
