A:AnswerGreat question! There's a pleated filter located in the dirt cup that helps to protect the motor and filter the exhaust air. While this filter cannot be washed it can be cleaned by tapping it against a waste bin to remove loose dust and debris. Eventually we do recommend replacing it which can be done through BISSELL.
