No, the machine does everything. You definitely want to do a couple dry runs to try and suck up as much moisture as possible. Ours took about 24hrs to dry.

No, need to rinse. Machine will put down shampoo, clean and draw all the dirt, water and shampoo back into separate container as you go. Easy to use.
