It comes with one invisible barrier. We used it to vacuum four rooms and I would say that's about its limit. This unit doesn't map the room and then vacuum to some planned pattern like the more expensive units do. If you want to have it vacuum an entire floor then I think that would exceed this product's intended capacity. For a large area with multiple rooms you'll probably need to go with an iRobot Roomba 960 or 980 model. I hope that this helps.
