This Bissell will vacuum both surfaces, but to use the mop mode you have to switch the vacuum tank with the mop tank. The vacuum tank holds dirt and debris that was vacuumed. The mop tank holds the mopping solution and the rotating scrubber pads.

I was hoping it could be set up to do both also since the roller and fan are still part of the main body but it cannot.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It can't do both simultaneously. You need to switch modes by swapping out the standard dustbin for a motorized mophead containing a tank for cleaning fluid. In this mode it will not run if it detects that it's on carpeting.
