Hi Liz! The Steam Shot OmniReach is designed for sealed hard surfaces, not for carpet or rugs. We don’t recommend using it on a shag rug because the high heat and moisture can damage the fibers. For spot cleaning rugs, a carpet cleaner or portable deep cleaner would be a better choice.
