Thank you for your interest in Blueair! The Blue Pure 211i Max uses four layers of filtration to effectively remove pollutants. First, a washable pre-filter captures larger particles, which also helps extend the life of the main filter. Next, electrostatic filtration charges smaller particles, allowing them to stick to the filter. The main carbon+ particle filter then removes a wide range of pollutants, including pollen, dust, pet dander, mold, smoke particles, viruses, and bacteria. Finally, an activated carbon layer targets gases and light odors from pets, cooking, and smoke. Please note that the Blue Pure 211i Max does not use UV light.
