You need to add the mop cloth and add water to the reservoir in order to mop, so it's a separate function. I always vacuum first before mopping anyway, so it's a non-issue.

The device operates simultaneously; however, when you are ready to mop, you need to add water and attach the mop pad. Once you finish mopping, be sure to empty any remaining water and remove the mop pad. I recommend vacuuming the area first, followed by adding the mop pad and water.
