- Answer You would have to buy a screen protector to ensure you are really protecting the front glass on the phone. I feel like although cases say they protect the front, I wouldn't trust it.

- Answer The black part is the iPhone screen turned off. This is supposed to protect the back side and the edges of the phone and the camera.
