“I want to the ability to record all my local channels and the ability to get sports channels (ESPN, SEC). Will this do that, do you have to combine a streaming service to do that combination. What is the best option for this requirement.”

your answer is yes. not only will you be able to stream and record all your local channel line up but also updated programs that isnt in the line up for recording on you tube. you can also recover programs you may have deleted as well. one of the most impressive things ive quickly noticed is the crisp sharp and colorful picture quality you get with this unit that beats my 70 inch vizio 4k tv. that was actually more than i even ask for. if you have a modem from comcast like me you may need an ethernet cable plugged in your modem thats very easy to connect. you will also need an antenna if you have over the air reception. well im sure you will love this unit as i do. After that, everything lit up like a Christmas tree. Yes I've been able to record any channel my shield unit which included all local channels including all sports including you tube events not listed within the channel line up range. One more thing, my picture quality is better than my own tv*
