I assume you want to use a regular antenna with Tivo to receive and record NBC off the air independently from the Direct TV receiver. If so, you can do that by connecting them to different inputs on you TV set. For example TV HDMI input 1 might be your DTV set top box and HDMI 2 might be your Off-the-Air (OTA) Tivo. They will both record their respective content, but when you want to watch a program you have to make sure the TV is selected to the proper HDMI input. In this example 1 for DTV programming or 2 for OTA Tivo programming. A bit clunky from a user perspective, but should work just fine. DTV won't provide local channels? I haven't had DTV for years, but I thought that had been resolved and is an available option.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can use the units separately on different inputs if each unit is connected via a separate HDMI cable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello Joycek, From what you describe, you would be able to use the Tivo as long as you are able to get reception. However, it may get a bit pricey since you have to pay for Tivo Service even if you are receiving broadcast signals over-the-air. To answer your question, yes, you would be able to use both units separately as long as you have sufficient HDMI inputs on your television. If you don't consider using an HDMI switch. Just make sure you buy a switch that is HDCP compliant. Otherwise, you will be getting errors and will have to power off/on your units every time you switch. Hope this information helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was going to get Direct Tv, I have two TiVo’s. They didn’t work, had to use their Tivo’s only 2 records. A waste of time junk❗️( my opinion )
