You can port your number in the process as well. It took me less than 10 minutes to activate and port my old number. If you are porting your existimg number, you will also need a port out code from your previous carrier and your carrier account number. Boost also requires an email for each phone account. I ported 6 lines this way and kept existing GSM phones.
