• Hi Ineedadishwasher, thank you for your question and interest in Model:SHEM3AY55N. Your dishwasher is protected against unintentional operation. If the appliance door remains open for more than 4 seconds after pressing the Start button, the operation will be paused. Close the appliance door and press the Start button again. If you need to open it for longer, press the On/Off button. The LED’s go out. The wash cycle is saved. To continue the wash cycle, close the door and press the On/Off button again.

• No, you have to hit Start after you close it again. Same if you lose power. It holds where it was in the wash cycle when the power goes out but you have to hit start to continue washing after power is restored.
