“is there a matte protective coating on the door of the dishwasher? I expected the black to be glossy to match my other appliances.. do I peel it? if so I can't tell where to start”

There is a thin plastic film that must be peeled it off from the door, other wise after a period of time (a year or more) the plastic will turn pale, yellowish and brittle and it would stick too well on the surface of the door making it hard to peel it off.
