I bought an open box too. They offer a 5-year extended warranty. Usually extended warranties are a rip off, but I made an exception here. I would have had my old unit repaired, but the water sensor--a simple part, was unavailable because the previous Administration made a deal with the manufacturers that they only have to back stock one year's worth of parts! The repairman said that the foreign manufacturers were doing this, but the American ones are not. Outrageous!
