Hi memjim, thank you for your question regarding Model:SHXM4AY55N. The InfoLight is similar to a laser pointer and most likely would not be good for their eyes over a long period of time. It can be turned off and you can engage a signal to let you know when the cycle is complete. Here is the link to the Use and Care Manual, on pages 33 and 34 you will find information on how to set the signal and turn off the InfoLight: https://media3.bosch-home.com/Documents/9001556672_A.pdf. The tub is polypropylene which has good fatigue resistance, good impact strength and is resistant to mold and bacteria.
