Many dishwashers are hardwired directly into a juction box built into the dishwasher. Bosch, and other European makes, have a cord with a plug, so you have to have an outlet near the dishwasher and hidden behind a cabinet to plug it in. Its not a big deal for an electrician. If you are replacing a dishwasher that was direct wired, an electrician can just take the wire that was hooked to the old dishwasher and wire an outlet near the new dishwasher to plug it into.

Many older installations have hard wiring directly to the dishwasher, but apparently newer machines are coming with a cord that has a regular three-prong male plug on one end, and a female plug on the other end that goes to the machine. You can either: Install an outlet box to plug the new dishwasher into; or, Connect your hard wiring to the "optional" junction box, which has the female plug on the other end to connect to the dishwasher. I purchased a Bosch 300 Series dishwasher, and could not clearly identify which cord the machine came with (I was replacing a machine that was hard-wired.) I called Bosch customer service, and they told me I needed to purchase the separate junction box cord--that the machine did not come with it. When I opened the dishwasher packaging, it actually came with the junction box cord. So, I had to return the "extra" junction box at an inconvenience to me.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine came complete with the junction box. The only thing I had to buy for it was the water hose.
