Hi stonypoint. Thank you for your question. The biggest difference between the two is the 500 Series now has our new AutoAir. AutoAir is an Option that when chosen opens the door partially once the interior cools to 118 degrees to allow the warm moist air to escape and the cool ambient air to enter the dishwasher to continue drying the dishes. The 500 Series also has a flexible third rack which has sides that flip down to add extra space for larger utensils.
