Does this model require an air gap? null

If you make sure the discharge hose (drain hose) is at the recommended height (usually 1 or 2 feet above the drain pipe, or garage disposal drain connection) you should be ok. However, some local plumbing codes (which depends on where you live) may still require an air gap. It has an air gap in it. The hose has to be hung up on the bottom of the countertop or go up and drain down into the drain.
