Hi DAR, Thanks for your question and interest in model SPE68B55UC. The 18" ADA dishwashers of the 800 series are equipped with the Heavy cycle that is ideal for cleaning pots and pans. It is not necessary to pre-rinse dishes, just scrape off any large food particles. All Bosch dishwashers are ENERGY STAR® qualified.
