The case (without the door) is 24" deep. The total depth with the door is about 28 inches. The cutout specification is 25" because the refrigerator is designed for the case (without the door) to sit flush with the counter with 1" gap between the back of the refrigerator and the well to allow for proper ventilation. So if your cutout depth is 25" or more this fridge will sit with the case flush with he counter and the doors will protrude. Counter depth doesn't mean that the fridge including doors is flush with the cabinetry. Since standard counter depth in kitchens is about 24" that is why the case without door on all counter depth fridges is 24" (vs. 29 or more inches for standard depth). It protrudes less than a standard depth fridge but isn't flush with cabinetry. For that you would need an integrated refrigerator not a free standing counter depth fridge.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Good question, I purchased one but have not taken delivery yet. The Bosch website says a required cutout size of 72 x 36 x 25 but they list the depth at 27 13/16. Need to check with my cabinet maker, thanks
