• The outer face of the handle bows out to the center 2" from the surface of the door. With a 1 3/8" clearance at the center for your hand.

• About 2 inches. One slightly annoying problem I found is the lower basket doesn't have a good track to roll in. That lets the basket jam moving in or go into the open door coming out. Heavy loads can make the basket hard to move.
