"Sanitize" is one of the options you can select. According to the manual, it "increases cycle length and temperature for disinfection." I have never used this setting. I always run my dishwasher on Speed 60 and Crystal Dry. My dishes are always rinsed off before loading. I'm very happy with this dishwasher.
