Hi ggs, thank you for question and interest in Model:SHPM88Z75N. Today's appliances are pretty quiet. To get a sense for how quiet you'll need, think about having a conversation in the same room. Choose from Not as Quiet (56 dBA or higher. You'll likely need to raise your voice); Quiet (50-55 dBA. Need to raise your voice slightly); Very Quiet (43-49 dBA. Easily have a conversation right next the appliance); and Nearly Silent (42 dBA or lower. You'll hardly know the appliance is on). The dBA on this Model is Nearly Silent. Bosch does make Models with no third rack, both in Stainless Steel Model: SHEM3AY55N - 50 dBA and Model: SHE3AR75UC - 50 dBA.
