Hi char. Thank you for your question. All Bosch Dishwashers have a flow through water heater. Bosch dishwashers' flow-through water heaters increase water temperature inside the appliances, eliminating the need to pump hot water into them. The heaters can raise water temperature as high as 162 degrees Fahrenheit.

Is it better to supply a bosh dishwasher with cold water

Yes -- it has a concealed heating element that heats the water to a temperature that it determines is required based on the load of dishes.

No it does not use a heater to dry. The tub inside is all stainless and they use a method called crystal dry which basically uses the stored heat in the stainless and wicks the water away. We have had this washer for several weeks and could not be happier! Use then recommended detergent and finisher and everything comes out spotless and dry.
