The flashing red light means you didn’t press the start button. Once you press the start button the flashing red light changes to a steady red light and your cycle begins normally. Anytime you open the door during a cycle the light flashes. Press the start button again to continue the cycle and close the door, your red light should stay steady and your cycle continues.

You have to hold down the start button until the lightsstop flashing. At least i think that is the solution. the controls are very complex.
