Hi David, thanks for your question and interest in model # SHX78CM5N. According to the Use and Care manual, to save energy, this dishwasher model switches off automatically 10 minutes after the end of the wash cycle. If you open the appliance door immediately after the wash cycle has ended, the appliance will switch off after 4 seconds.
