I already had a 240 volt 3 prong outlet in my laundry room. I only changed the outlet to a 4 prong one. If you don't have a 240 volt line a licensed electrician can put one in, which might be around $250.

Yes Many homes have 220 installed for a dryer, range or electric water heater. If that is your case, the electrician will run a line to your laundry from your electric panel, at which point it is plug and go. Do not attempt to run a 220 line yourself.
