• I wouldn't.... 70's receivers don't have AUTO OHM conversion.. You could easily blow the speakers out, and then you wouldn't be able to enjoy them.

• Hi, Bill According to the information we have on this Marantz receiver, it has an RMS power output of 15 watts per channel at 8 ohms. Since the 161 speakers are compatible with any receiver rated between 10 – 100 watts at 4 – 8 ohms, this Marantz should work just fine. Thanks for the question!
