No you don't need an amp. Don't hesitate and buy this subwoofer outstanding product and service! I own the soundbar, sub and rear speakers. Out of a 10 scale I give this system a million. You get what you pay for with electronics. Go cheap and you'll get bad results.

No its self powered. Just plug into the wall and connect to sound bar.

No external amplifier is needed. Its internal to both units.

No. The unit has an integral amplifier and connects wirelessly to the Soundbar.
