The sound emanates in all four directions. The sound comes out between the glass top and the four sided speaker box. The glass and the speaker box are actually separated from one another by about a quarter inch or a little bit more. That is actually where the sound comes out of. The four sided speaker box is only a box and there is no separate speaker facing One Direction other than up. The speaker inside the box faces up and the sound comes out of the top of the box between the glass and the box.

The Bose Bass Module 700 features a down‑firing driver, meaning the speaker projects sound downward toward the floor. This design allows bass waves to reflect and disperse evenly throughout the room, creating deep, immersive, and non‑directional low frequencies. Combined with Bose’s QuietPort technology, it delivers powerful bass with minimal distortion while maintaining a sleek, minimalist appearance since the driver isn’t visible. The down‑firing orientation also helps reduce vibration and rattling compared to front‑firing subs. For best performance, the Bass Module 700 should be placed directly on the floor, ideally near a wall or corner, but not inside enclosed spaces, to ensure the bass remains clear and impactful.
