Thank you for your question. The audio quality is comparable between the two, though the FreeStyle earbuds are a better option for use while working out. They are sweat and weather resistant and are engineered for durability. They also include volume controls for certain Apple device, such as your iPhone 5. We hope this helps!

The MIE2 come with an extension for your cord along with a workout sleeve for your device. Those are they only differences I know of; they are both great for workout.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The FreeStyle is the newer version of the MEI2. Other than the color and slightly more durable buttons, they still represent Bose to the fullest. I currently use them with my iPhone 4, my brother uses them with the 5. They are great because you don't have to switch headphones. You can answer/end incoming calls by clicking the middle button and control volume with the top and bottom buttons. The music can be started/stopped by using the middle button also. The music picks up right where you stopped even when the call hangs up. Hope this helps, but I don't think you will be disappointed.
