Yes, the app has to be downloaded on your phone prior but you don’t need Wifi to use them

They don’t stream music or have acoustic noise cancellation. Instead, they use pre-loaded, soothing masking sounds to cover up unwanted nighttime noises so you can get to sleep and stay asleep. You may choose 10 out of 20 soothing sounds to store on the Sleepbuds memory from the Bose Sleep app. You may delete, add, or transfer different sounds as you please. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I personally found the setting "Warm Static" to be the most similar to my white noise machine. There are a couple of other sound types that also seem to be similar to white noise in addition to more nature-like sounds.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.They have a few options one of which is called 'warm' or something that is basically just white noise. That's the one I use. The other options are rain, a windmill, and some other stuff that I don't use.
