Your ear buds receive the tones/sounds from your phone because they connect with your phone and "stream" in your choice of pre-programmed soothing sounds. But, yes, there is an "alarm" that will emanate from your sleep buds which you program from the app on your phone. I love my sleep buds and the alarm works great. Not startling, like an alarm clock buzzer, but gently and increasing. I work nights and sleep days (when the rest of the world is awake and mowing lawns, kids playing outside, dogs barking, traffic zipping by out on the road, the tv on down the hallway, family cooking in the kitchen, etc. None of this wakes me anymore. I'm sleeping more soundly and thoroughly. These are the most comfortable buds ever and they stay in securely.
